Mr Oliver Wiseman is a Consultant Urologist at Addenbrooke's Hospital (Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust), where he has practised since 2007, and a Consultant Andrologist at Bourn Hall Clinic — the world's first IVF clinic — where he has investigated and treated male infertility for more than 16 years.
He manages male infertility for the East of England and was the first surgeon to introduce microTESE (microsurgical testicular sperm extraction) in the region. He has undertaken over 1,000+ procedures for male infertility, encompassing microTESE, PESA/TESE and microsurgical vasectomy reversal.
Experience & expertise
Mr Wiseman combines the perspective of a urological surgeon with that of an andrologist working inside a busy IVF clinic. This means he can take a man's fertility problem from first investigation, through a precise diagnosis, to the surgical procedure that gives the best chance of success — and coordinate with the IVF clinic caring for the couple.
He believes strongly that men deserve a full evaluation. A careful history, examination and the right tests frequently identify a treatable cause, improve the chance of finding sperm, and sometimes uncover an unrelated health condition that benefits from attention.
